Winnipeg’s Flat Nadine From BC to Newfoundland

December 1, 2016

Flat Nadine Hits Newfoundland!

Nadine was created by the Grade 2 students in Mme Waite’s class at the Sun Valley School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She showed up in my mailbox recently from my friend Valerie in Abbotsford, British Columbia. That’s quite the long trip she had – practically as far apart as you can get in Canada! Flat Nadine spent a week with me on this big ol’ island in the Atlantic Ocean and we had a blast.
Check out our adventures while she was here:

Nadine’s first day in Holyrood so we went to the beach by the ocean.

Then we went to Holyrood Park by the river.

We had a hair appointment with talented Carolyn at Uptown Hair Design and Spa and she suggested Nadine could use a few extensions. Nadine thought she was the coolest with her new hair 🙂

Then we had lunch at Freshii so that we stayed healthy during Nadine’s trip.
(We made up for it out later in the trip ;))

After such a long trip and being so folded, Nadine went for a relaxing massage.

We went to Whink – one of the gorgeous stores downtown St. John’s that carries my artwork – as you can see behind us on the wall.
(In case you were wondering, here are the stores carrying my work)

Then we walked around the oldest city in North America which is St. John’s and looked at all the old famous colourful row houses.

After being in the city, we headed out on the highway for a road trip across Newfoundland to the West Coast to go moose hunting.
That’s a 7 hour drive…we live on a BIG island!

This picture made Nadine look like a ghost. Pretty cool!

I couldn’t send Nadine home empty-handed so before she went back, we went ‘shopping’ and got her some new clothes
as well as a new suitcase to take back her wardrobe and souvenirs for Mme Waite and the kids.

Watch me “refashion” Nadine in this Facebook Live video.
(really…this was just a chance for me to relive my childhood and to do a project just because it’s fun)

Big thanks to the Sun Valley Grade 2 Class for sending her out to end up in my mailbox all these miles away 🙂
